hi
When I take clips from avi files using windows movie maker,some of the quality is lost.Which program would you recommend for creating clips while not losing any of the original picture quality?

if its avi files then try virtualdub. that program can cut out clips without reencoding the source files...

If you don't mind spending a little money try Pinnacle Studio. Complicated and sometimes frustrating because of freezing in edit mode, but excellent
quality
